Mayor Cassetti along with 5th Ward Alderman Chicago Rivers, 2nd Ward Alderman Lorie Vaccaro, Economic Development Director Sheila O’Malley, Corporation Counsel John Marini, Constituent Service Director Greg Martin and Valley Chamber of Commerce President Bill Purcells led a double ribbon cutting ceremony at Burns’ Corporate building and its landscaping/asphalt recycling products division site and future training facility.
Located at 16 Riverside Drive along the Naugatuck River, the company acquired nearly 60 acres of land and an office building to accommodate its current 300 person workforce and 25 units of payloaders, dumptrucks, backhoes and other heavy equipment. Eventually, more than 100 units of equipment will be located on site.
Ken Burns Sr., company owner and president, indicated the company is still hiring, and is seeking to fill positions of administrative, drivers and general laborers. Several recent hirings were Ansonia residents. Those interested in applying can do so at their Riverside Dr corporate address.
The company will be opening a huge landscaping products division on site selling assorted rock and soil products.
An industry leader in utility work, natural gas pipe installation, asphalt recycling, Burns Construction was founded in 1957. Its major customers include Eversource, Aquarion Water, CNG and SCG.
